Poor Fremer can keep his Linn LP12 and I'll keep my Micro Seiki RX-5000. Maybe one day he'll get a decent rig, or least one with sufficient resolving power to make accurate/better comparisons.Separately, as I said, I have some 140 gram records that sound great, and some 200 and 180 gram records that sound terrible.
IMHO, sound quality has alot more varibles than just the weight of the record or whether the record is perfectly flat or not.
For example, some of the old VTL records are on 140 gram vinyl, but were recorded on first rate tube gear end-to-end, with just two microphones in the studio and sound fantastic.
Happy listening,

Yes, I'm agree! I have some old records with stunning sound on absolutelly normal weights, especially, from europe and japan. My "Wish you were here" are a thin normal weight record, but japanese, half speed mastered, from the original master analog tape and sound really great.
So, rsuming, that 140 grams, Hendrix album, also was taken from the original master tape, as the 200 grams version, I believe I will go for it.
Best regards,
Beto
The copy My Music Fix sold me on eBay was supposedly cut directly from the master analog tapes. Sounds like it to me. Oddly, enough, Fremer himself supposedly oversaw the process (big deal).Skip the DVD. The picture quality is very poor.
Ditto on the Wish You Were Lp - I bought that one in Tokyo in February. What a rush playing that gem!
Lenniebird - read your post. I don't the link you posted is Fremer's table, or considered among the best by afficionados.
Time to que up Yes/Relayer. Another great find from Tokyo.
Cheers,
Hi Freddy,
that "gem", wish you..., I have get it when It was new (30AP 1875, master sound, half-speed mastering, sony-cbs) and I have carry it like a holy bone since I was a teenager, but on that years I did not have a good set up to hear really how much wonderfull it is. Since I have restored a Thorens TD125MKI and get the Audio Note Kit phono stage and the Audio Note Kit 1, I really rediscover some of my vinyl gems and I like to go absolutelly analog for ever one more time.
Best for you,
Beto
