Looking at the VPI Scout (basic model), Roksan Radius 5 and The Project RM-9.1 or Project Perspective Carbon..All are around the same price tag. Seem like nice tables, good looks with decent arms. I'd like a more up front presentation. Very live and open with. Known for pace and rhythm.
The carbon fiber arms on the Project tables are awfully tempting.
Just need some opinions and owner experiences.

Many sincere thanks for all the help.I'm still looking. If I could take poll for the responses on this query and many other- user dealer comments, Just FYI
In order of preference
1) Project RM-9.1, it's that carbon fiber 9cc arm that gets the vote
2) VPI Scout-JMW-9 basic tonearm
3) Roksan Radius 5- NIMA unipivot arm

I upgraded from a Music Hall MMF-5 to the Scout with the standard tonearm and a Shelter 501 cartridge in March...the MH wasn't bad...kind of like a Honda Civic is nice but it is no Lexus.
I'd throw that one in the mix as well. I think that one is the one that got away from me.
The Perspective Carbon has the qualities you are looking for. It has great sound and easy to upgrade with electronic speed control, etc. The VPI electroning speed controller is $1000. The Pro-Ject, under $150.
Thanks for the tip. I have yet to hear the Perspective Carbon.
You can buy the Pro-Ject tonearm and mount it on any table you like. That being said, only the Roksan is likely to give you what you want.I think the entry-level Michell with the Pro-Ject(open/refined) or Michell/Rega(lively/upfront?) tonearm is another.
Sorry to take so long to get back. Do you mean by giving me what I' looking for- the sound presentation-''lively/upfront'' is best served by the Roksan. Also I keep hearing dissenting views on the Project RM-9.1 being not really up to par on the workmanship. That troubles me, needless to say. Good comments on the sound though.
I sent Simuko an email, and they don't offer it up for sale separately.
Sumiko doesn't sell to the end-user. You will have to order it thru the dealer or network that represents your area.
Thanks! I will see if I can track one down locally.
