Guy wantts $150 for an armless TD-111. I have seen posts that say it is the baby of the bunch and it only has one speed.I took the platter of and I can see that the motor is decoupled from the idler wheel by way of a belt turning another wheel.
Looks like it is coming in it's original plinth.
Is it worth it?
Follow Ups:
i am pretty sure it uses the same motor as a 124. and that motor will fetch at least $100 by itself - and there are probably other shared parts with the 124 - so parting it out may be an option (if you don't consider it blasphemus). i actually keep one of the less desirable thorens from that era around so that i can swap parts with my 124 if i need to (of course, i spent a lot less than $150 for it).so, short story long, it is probably not a risky investment and if you decide you don't like it, you could certainly resell it and probably make a little profit - either as a whole or as parts.
oh, and re: the strobe disc - even that one speed my need some fine tuning. :)
the 'slaes guy' tells me that the speed is adjustable via a tunr switch on top of the on/off switch.
yes, so the strobe disc will come in handy - that was what i was trying to say originally anyway. :)
went back today and i got it for $150. Seller is putting a new belt on and oiling it up with Thorens oil and testing it out. I will have a look next Saturday and if all is well I will fetch it home. Now I have see if the RB250 will fit in that SME cutout so I can move it over right away. If not I will look around for a used SME and cut for the Rega on the left.
sweet. i hope the rega won't fit and you'll need to end up with two arms mounted. :) i'd love to do that myself - one mono and one stereo. hmm... maybe i should keep that in mind when i re-plinth my 124.enjoy the table and post some pics when you get it sorted.
two arms two arms no matter what. Even if that Rega fits I am still moving it over and putting the SME in. I gotta get an SMU! You should absolutely cut for two arms, three better yet. mono, moving magnet, moving coil. Well two would actually do with the SME as you can swap headshells.
:)yah, for me the plan was to use the SME for both mono and 78s - but i never thought about needing both MC and MM. i guess 4 arms seems about right then. wow. thank goodness for removable headshells (or armwands - what i wouldn't give for another technics EPA 500 wand)
Have a look at the link. Holger is pretty much an expert.J.

yeah, i saw that. Vinyl Asylum has the most words on the web regarding this table. There is some stuff on an Italian site but volumes of text there ain't.The only thing that looks modified on the table us the cutout for an SME arm ... which means you just gotta get an SME arm for it. And in looking at those they sell for more than the table will cost.
There is so little documentation and it doesn't look like they sold a lot of them. In Throen's histories you only ever see that there were released at a certain and that's it.
Rare they are. That being the case I could say all kinds of things about them and no one can contradict me. :-) That might be worth it right there.
I guess I will see if the guy still has it next week when I go back. Nope - didn't get a card, don;t even know the name of the place. I do remember how to get there.
Make sure it is not stolen. He lives to make trouble.

Or a 48 hour psych evaluation! Please refrain from using the word GUY. I just cringe everytime I see his moniker.
I give a resounding yes. Here is what i did with one:

why did you raise it above the plinth? The one I saw is just a little bit war torn than the one above but looks like with a stain will come right back. It also has no arm or dust roller. And there is a slot cut in the wood that looks like it might have accomodated an SME arm. There was a few others in there but belonged to owners sho had 'em in for work.Don't know why they added the strobe disk in the middle when it only has one speed.
