After the deletion of the "Building high-end 'tables cheap at Home Despot thread", another important idler-thread goes missing, which was entitled "Garrard 301: Some additional questions". Though much shorter, it represented the beginning of idler fever among the more well-heeled, orthodox members on the Audiogon analog forum (the opposite of the Home Despot crowd), and so was very significant. It discussed Lencos, Garrards, EMTs, and contained glowing reports of exposure to and experience with these rebuilt beasties, as well as reported conversions to idlers from expensive belt-drives. A First coming out and positive open discussion of idler-wheel drives in particular for these usually predictable high-end Audiogon members (i.e. high-end belt-drives), now mysteriously vanished.

Hi Jean, there's a new Lenco/Home depot thread on A'gon. It starts with a copy of my Lenco to-do-list with your comments mixed in. What do you think of this text? I could make a new version of the LTDL withyour comments added. Pictures of work-in-progress would be helpful as well. You can put them online or send them to me, i'd be happy to put them online for you. Maybe a two step approach would be advisable, a simple scheme for the newbie and a more ambitious program for the Lenco veteran.

...simply because their posts are never approved, regardless of content.
Hi MosinI will keep searching through your Asylum posts, but would be interested in and further you can add to the following from A'gon Despot II:
"And Mosin, like Grant, I’m thoroughly intrigued (and teased) by your hints of this innovational Lenco Idler modification."
Regards
Opps!I see at A'gon I should wait a couple of weeks.
Cheers

...because every post is subject to moderator review, and the delay is often a long one. Any spontaneity on Audiogon forums has been purposefully killed in its tracks. If that is not enough, certain members' posts are summarily deleted, or never approved, even though those posts are benign ones made by non-offensive members. It is as if it is the concentrated intent of Audigon to get out of the forum business altogether. Well, if it is, it's working.Needless to say, advancements in idler development will be made with, or without, Audiogon's help.
Audiogon has always been moderated. If you go through the Help menu at the home page you can find the Forum FAQs page that describes, although in very general terms, how and why they moderate the threads. The stated purpose of Audiogon is completely different than AudioAsylum.
Until recently, posts were not held up by the process. All this deletion business and difficult-to-work-with nature trend started suddenly. There are a good many who are very disappointed, but I for one could care less because my posts there are few a far between anyway. Still, it seems like a bizarre way to run a forum to me. It is their forum, however.
