Can't find anything on google or searching this site. My brother in law gave me his old SLQ 6 linear arm technics TT. This is the cartridge on it. Anyone know anything about this? The best news he threw in his old LPs inlcudind 7 Dylans (all stereo 360 ), 7 old stones albums (kind of beat up) 10 Chicago albums, 7 doors albums, fresh cream, 3 Chambers brothers albums, SLy and the family stone, 8 beatles albums, 3 Simon and Garfunkle ( all 2 eyes), All things must pass, 3 Lennon albums and some I have forgotten to list. Lot of cleaning and listening to do! Norm
Follow Ups:
I have an old Audio-Technica PM9000 and in the "Instructions and Specifications" sheet it also lists a PM7000 but no PM8000.Are you sure it is "8000"? I would think they would have listed it as well since they listed a "7000" and it would appear to be in the same family but that's just a guess.
Have you tried a google search?
.
Another thought....The PM8000 model may have been sold only as a package with the SLQ-6 TT's and that is why it is not listed anywhere.Maybe try searching the SLQ-6 TT and you may find some info on it that way. Either way, I am sure it is due to be replaced.
Norm,
It is a mid-line AT, but that is as much as I know. It's not the best, but it isn't the worst, either. I would put it just about dead center of all the Audio-Technica moving magnet types, so I would conclude that it it most likely well suited for that turntable setup. Sorry, I don't know any specifics. I based my information almost solely on stylus replacement cost which is somewhere around fifty dollars US, depending where you find it.
like the sound of the TT I will have to factor in whether it is the cartridge or the TT, but from your description my guess is that both are midlevel items. I don't even know yet if the TT works. Also, This is in my basement "music room" where records and equipment are banished to, and it is ~58degrees, Don't know if that will affect the linear drive tonarm on that table. No heat in the basement. Norm
Tell your wife to move down there, and put your stuff in the living room. If she kills you, it ain't my fault. ;)
