Yes, the RD11 is the original Ariston and looks just like a Linn. The main difference is the platter which is a one piece affair on the 11. The 11S has a different armboard which had a circular mounting point for the tonearm, but has a 2 piece platter just like a linn.

Veeerry Interesting...but Ariston used to make great play on the fact that they used one piece platters, as I say this certainly changed on the 11S model..In fact there is an 11S for sale on E-Bay in the USA and it shows the two pice platter.. Of course I'm sure you could probably fit a Linn platter, might need a different belt. The One piece platter uses the square section belt rather than the flat one
The RD11 Superieur has a one-piece platter, but despite the similar name, isn't built the same as the original RD11.
