This is better than Christmas.
Follow Ups:
Seems like the only way to get your hands on clean and untrashed versions of heavy-play items, like say your 'Between The Buttons' score, is to get there before the dealers.
Otherwise it's mega bucks for a VG+ or something, which takes a fair amount of the fun out of it ......Great score, keep at it. And : (you suck).
From an old rocker...you SCORED!!enjoy,

just tell her how much you WOULD have spent acquiring all of that stuff individually, which you would have done at some point anyway. Sure, you spent $150 but think of how much you saved.
Always fun to hear about these kind of days. Estate Sales I've been to always turn up lawrence welk, etc....blah.
One of the Stones albums is and I thought I saw a few more.I left them at work and will check tomorrow.
I knew that coming through the front door with another turntable would be bad enough, so I left the records behind.

any advice?when i lived in san francisco, they were reasonably well advertised, but i haven't tried to find any in my new town yet (portland, ME).
Tell yer bride she now doesn't need to shop for you this Christmas, or any other. How much underwear and socks does a vinyl Jedi need, anyway?
Very kewl!
A neighbor is dropping off a box of seven-inch reel-to-reel tapes of live shows circa 1974-1976 from a variety of NYC venues. AND... they're all soundboard recordings and are said to be in good condition. Plenty o' big names on the tapes, too. A gold mine. And the local university is letting me have on extended loan an Akai GX-77 deck to transfer this stuff to CD.
Old tapes can be very fragile. Often, they can only be played once before they start to disintegrate. You would be wise to borrow TWO reel to reel machines to copy them all onto newer tapes. Then make your digital copies, which will be inferior to the originals (IMHO).
Tape from that era can be really brittle. I'll know more when I unpack this stuff and give them a whirl.Good point about making another tape, but I won't have a R2R for long and getting another piece of permanent audio gear in this house could be difficult given spousal consternation about all the stacks of vinyl throughout the house. R2R> CD is the best I can muster at this time.
A couple of years ago, I was trying to transfer some old reels for a friend had from the 60s---they were original recordings of his vocal group which he found after 40 years. They were obviously stored in the attic, and they were so brittle, they kept coming apart on the player. I thought the guy was going to cry---seriously.I was able to salvage most of it, but it was a real pain in the rear.

can you leave this to me????
