Wondering which turntable to buy. Is one significantly better and are either better than the 70's Phillips 437 that I have now. I'm not sure exactly which cartridge is in the Phillips but i'm pretty sure its an ortofon that was about $25-30. I replaced it after a guy at work gave me the turntable. Thanks - Dane

They are about the same. A better deal is the Goldring GR-1.2 at $299. Comes with an OEM RB250 arm and a better cart than the other 2.

Unless someone comes up with an aftermarket device to allow it. The base of the "Goldring RB-250" is completely different from a stock or OEM RB-250 in that it has a 3-point screw down sleeve that holds it in place. You can not put spacers underneath it to raise the arm - it's hard to understand why Goldring would have done that.
