This is the Beatles box set labels on the early recordings until the Apple logo was used. Can anyone tell me whether or not this was a good pressing as I have not listened to them since I bought them in Australia in 1980. I have red so much about yellow & black llabel but not the range label.

Australian pressing. I think the general consensus is that the Australian box is not as good as the UK pressed box (nor the German or Dutch either). I think I've read that some LPs in the Australian box are better mastered than others. Some of the LPs (With The Beatles, Beatles For Sale) do have cool alternate covers though.
For the record, I do not have the Australian box nor have I ever heard it.
The UK boxed set was'nt released in Y/B,only in silver/black,similiar to your orange label shown.Yours may well be the 1ST Aussie pressing of the boxed set, others with more knowledge than myself may be able to verify.
This Orange Label Beatles set is sub-par compared to almost any other records pressed in any other country.Taiwanese coloured vinyl from the '60's are better believe me!The reason for this is that some fool in Australia at E.M.I in the '60's decided that using a high-pass filter to minimise bass response on the cuts was a good thing because otherwise styluses would leap out of grooves. They never changed this, enough said.
I have both orange and y/b labels and there's not that much difference in bass. Also, comparing the orange label Sgt. Pepper to the CD, they sound remarkably similar w.r.t. bass. Are you saying they did it just for the box set? What about original orange label releases?

I have listened to Beatles UK imports and the local pressings over the years and I would defy anyone to pick the difference. Mind you I was not playing the music on as goodequipment as I now have. Pity is all of my records are boxed and stored as I have no place to display them so I will have to dig them out again and have another listen.
