I am thinking about buying one of these 13 lp box on eBay (about $200), but I have heard that sets after 1987 were made from digital sources. Is this true?
Follow Ups:
All blue boxes were analogue.
They were made from '78-86 as a regular catalogue item in the UK.
The US version was a limited edition in '78 only.
The black breadbox set from '87 was all digital. If it's blue, it's analogue unless the seller tries some trickery.
My BC-13 is from '86 and it's analogue.
There's tons upon tons of info here if you do a search. Good luck.
I asked him if he ever get's the full sets in, having noticed some loose ones for sale in his shop, he told me he splits them up as they are easier to sell that way.

Mabye you are talking about another box set. I believe that the Blue Box sets were a one shot deal in 79 or 80. Get the UK one, as supposedly the records were pressed specialy for this collection. The Japanese one simply had the current EAS pressings that existed at the time, gathered together for the box. Not so bad, but the AP and esp. original OP Japanese pressings sound superiour (I have an AP Pepper and White Album, they are nice.) The exception are the mono EAS versions from 82, nice.
I'll bet that is the digital one you have heard of. I'm bad at posting links, so cut and paste this: http://www.jpgr.co.uk/boxlp.html (sorry it's not a link, gotta figure that out.)According to this site, the Blue Box (what you want) was pressed in 1978. There was one in what looks like a wooden box in 1987, mabye that is digihell? (80s digital, ugh.)
YES but some in the set may still be analog. try and find German or Dutch box the Dutch one have the 5c catalog number they sound great.
Which is better?
