What's the benefit of both types? I see most of the older tables have the curved arm while almost all current ones are straight. Also,I noticed all DJ tt's both current and old have curved arm's...what gives?

These arms all share the same geometry, but a straight arm does it with less tubing (the shortest distance). I believe the idea behind an S/J arm is that the arm may resist tortional forces more if it enters the headshell in line with the cartridge, and enters the suspension in line with it as well. It seems most high end arms are straight, though.I'd love to read more on this myself.
Thank's for the info I would love more info as well.

Doesn't work too well with a straight armtube. There are exceptions like the Dynavectors.
What about the Grahm tone arm's?They are straight and use removeable headshells and they are some of the best sounding arms around.
