If you have the 1980's edition of the Type V or V-MR and not the recently discontinued VxMR then you'll want a VN5MR stylus. That was/is the best Shure made for the V. Is the stylus guard/brush assembly grey or a reddish-purple color? The older (and some might say better) Type V uses a grey-colored stylus guard.
Looks dark grey to me! Gunmetal, perhaps?

Yep, that's the older Type V. You want the VN5MR stylus. Still plenty of them around for about $120.
