In Reply to: Got a sealed LP on the Bay, and it is even the import. . . posted by Hugh Jass on August 6, 2005 at 09:12:17:
You were outbid for the Sparks' album 10x, finally got a sealed import on the 11th try, consider it a good week all-in-all, and it's not even that good?Or, were you referring to the sealed Charley Rich as not being that good?
I'm hoping my acute bout of confusion is just a brainfart.

Follow Ups:
I posted yesterday about my best jazz score at the Salvation Army in 20 years (sorry you missed it).My point; "I have been outbid for this record about 10 times, and it's not even that good", was concerning the Sparks LP itself. It is one of those records that for some reason many people are really interested in, even though IMO, I don't think it is that good a record.
Now of course I wanted it too, and MY REASON is because about 20 years ago my friend's band used to cover "This Town . . ." and I wanted to listen to the original on vinyl. So is that less fart-like for you, or do you want a scratch n' sniff photo.
I actually didn't miss reading your jazz score post, but that was yesterday, and I failed to ascribe it to you while reading this one this morning. Your explanation, plus a second cup of coffee, helped to ameliorate MY confusion. I certainly never intended for you to attribute the fartiness to your own post. But, now that I think about it, there are literally hundreds of thousands of records in which I have virtually no interest, and I have yet to bid once on even one of them. Your post, however, has opened up new worlds of wonder for me. Now, instead of just coveting all the ones I do want, I now have to contend for all those that mean next-to-nothing to me. I can just see it now: Debbie Boones, Herb Alperts, Tammy Fayes... How much is that Paul Sandberg "My Hiding Place" goin' for? Oh, this could get ugly!
ARGH! This hobby is gonna put me in serious debt! Thanks a lot. &%^)

Better start hoarding them.

It must be country and western or something.
You are welcome to this LP if you want it. I am not sure why you replied in such a manner. Was it my joke about the 47k phono stage post the other day?
When he gets behind closed doors . . . ;8=)

Hey Henry,I don't do that kind of stuff. I've never listened to Charlie Rich. It's still sealed. Please believe me. :)
