Expecting the arrival of a Systemdek IIX with the stock glass platter. It has the stock felt mat. I have read that felt is a good coupling for glass platters but I was wondering if someone had better success with something else? Any and all help and advice is appreciated.

If you want to improve the sound of your vinyl rig, look at a better cartridge and or phonostage. The mat is fine.

I owned a IIx for many years. I was very happy with the Eon Tri-Pad, a sandwich of cork, vinyl, and a sorbothane-like elastomer that adhered to the glass and damped the ringing very effectively: ding > thud. The upper (cork) surface was slightly concave, and used a clamp to press out mild LP warps.Eon, a Canadian company, is apparently long out of business. You might find a Tri-Pad on eBay or from other used sources.
I had both a Music Hall MMF-5 and a Rega P3. Both came with glass platters. I found the LP Gear Z-Mat, a lighter weight felt mat, to be an improvement over the stock felt mats on both tables. I'm still using it on the P3 with an acrylic platter.
YMMV, of course.
