The Horizon is nothing special in absolute terms yet would be easy to sell at a decent price. If you tweak it you may reduce its value/desirability. Keep the NAD and tweak to your heart's delight!

But, like my bud jazzthusiast, I would rather listen to music on my 'table than tweak it. The Horizon has been the perfect "set and forget" table for me. The only remotely tweakish thing I have done is add a Boston Audio Designs Mat 1, which took a great table up another significant notch. My Horizon will probably go with me to my grave, so anyone looking for a good deal on a used one better talk to Larrs. :-)
"The Horizon is nothing special in absolute terms..." !!!I suppose you've heard a properly set up Horizon? Mine was set up with a Grado Sonata, and it's a monster 'table for the price. I've never owned a high dollar 'table, but Fremer reviewed the Horizon & said it compared remarkably close to multi-thousand-dollar rigs. When I auditioned the Nott, trying to choose between the Nott and a similarly priced and highly regarded table, the Nott blew me away.
You may be right, though, concerning the issue of the original poster, i.e., keeping a table to tweak, but I felt obliged to defend the virtues of my esteemed Nott. Parents can get touchy about their children ;-)
Best regards,
Jim
I have a 533 as my main table. I auditioned the Horizon a while back and definately noticed that it's much quieter and smoother and mor robust. I didn't feel it was worth the jump, though. It's worth more but you're limited to the amount of fun you can have with it (modifying and experimenting). The 533 is made for hot rodding. It sounds like this guy wants to have fun playing with the table. In that case, sell the Horizon.
Admittedly, I'm not much of a tweaker. About the only mod I look forward to doing on my Horizon is possibly the Expressimo Heavyweight counterweight, eventually. I do love this 'table!
Regards,
Jim
Just call me Hot Rod.....definitley can't leave well enough alone.
the good news is somebody will be getting a great 'table at a great price.Happy hot rodding, dude! :-)
