Desperate Man Blues is a documentary about record collector Joe Bussard. He has the best roots music collection next to the Smithsonian Museum. He has been collecting and playing records for 47 years. It will be shown on Encore Drama August 10th.

....late last night here in Phoenix. Joe is a true music lover....seeing the joy on his face when he listens is a joy in itself. I wish he saw value in the late-40's and early-50's rhythm & blues and what became early rock 'n roll. What a collection that would have been!
I'm no expert, but the documentary about Robert Crumb (appropriately titled "Crumb") has a bit about his sizable collection of blues 78s.
A very good, albeit disturbing, flick as well.
I think about any record buff would dig it. Watched the DVD a few days ago. Apparently, he'll record his 78s to cassette for you for around a buck a song. He's more of a record guy than an equipment guy. Most of the gear on the shelves in the movie is pretty mediocre.Cheers,
