I have an old LP12 that does not have the corner blocks. Anyone tried to fix their own or improvise their own 'corner block'? Pls. advise.

Andyr is correct. On early LP12s the adhesives used were insufficient for hot, humid climates, and plinths could split or, in some cases, fall apart. My advice is if you have an old plinth and it has not split or fallen apart by now it is not likely to so forget it. There is no improvement in sound to be had.
Thanks guys..
Yes, mine didn't have the corner blocks either, so I made some up a long time ago. Just hardwood triangles, screwed & glued into 2 sides each. I seem to remember at one corner, you had to be careful about the dimensions of the triangle. My understanding is that Linn put the corner blocks in because they found plinths were splitting in some climates. Nothing more.
Regards,
Hi Guys, Thanks. I guess the corner below the tonearm should be the 'careful part'. I do not know if I can just use some metal angle bar and screw them to the plinth to prevent it from splitting. No effect on the sound quality?
I would think metal angle bar would be just as good ... but if your plinth ain't splitting, why bother to do anything?Regards,
Mine has them, but they are nothing more than glued on little pieces of wood. It should be a piece of cake for you to make some that are at least as good. I can see how the plinth could be improved in lots of ways because it really isn't built that great. It sounds great, though. I love my LP12.
