I just opened up a brand new LP and there is something funky going on mostly in the right channel. To rule out my TT, I played some other LP's with no problem. Is my problem static? I have one of those brushes that supposedly gets static out, but I had no succes with it on this record. Do I have a lousy pressing, or is there something I can do to fix it. It sounds like there is a bad connection or something and makes a fuzzy sound.
Follow Ups:
They are often noisy and often warped.
I had the same problem. I bought a 3-track 12" of kraftwerk tour de france (the newer version). Still in shrinkrap, I opened it up myself---sounds like it had a lot of dust! Also it was labeled "45 RPM' where as it was clearly 33! Also weird --- the record was VERY thick!
Which LP on what label are you refering to?

I can understand that, but they should be playable! Now im pretty sure its static, but I have no idea how to get it out. It seems like in this day and age LPs would have advenced some and Anti-static sleeves would be included with all new presses. I mean, damn
A simple wet clean will obviate just about any static as should humidity above 35%, a quality CF brush will drain it off to some extent as well. I'm in the habit of using more up to date "Dust Bug" type devices, Keith Monks and Thorens both make or have made dandy ones with CF fiber brush heads and a grounding wire I've always found these essential in the winter particularly when I'm running my fireplace or wood stove.
