What are good speakers for a Sherwood S-7200, it is pretty low watts per channel? Thank you for any help.
Follow Ups:
Back in the early 70's a local chain featured Sherwood and EPI and many systems were sold with various models of both brands. But they carried many other brands of speakers and I was able to try a lot of combinations. Advents large and Smaller work well as does the Marantz Imperial line (5, 6, & 7). More recently I loaned a friend my S-7200 (32 W/ch) to use with his Boston A-150's. That's a very good match, so I'd add Boston A-60, A-70, A-100, and A-150 to the list. You can also add the early Bose models, particularly the first two generations of 301 and the first 3 generations of 501.I was less excited by AR, and Rectilinear models with the S7200. However, Altec had a line of direct radiator speakers (891 was one of them) and they sounded very good with Sherwoods as did the KLH 17.
Lots of good choices, but the EPI 100 is probably one of the top 2 or 3.
Thanks alot Jerry, very helpful info. Being that the Sherwood S-7200 is only 32w per ch, should the speakers be high efficiency types? Thanks again, OS46
32 W/ch should be enough with EPI-100's or Advents to give you quite loud sound in a good sized room. Some while back I used a Pioneer SX-990 with KLH 17's and later a pair of Advents in a 4000 cubic foot room. The SX-990 is 30 W/ch and compares pretty well to the Sherwood for dynamic headroom. It played loud enough that conversation was not possible unless you yelled. You'd have to go to at least 60 W/ch to hear much difference in sound level and that's only + 3 dB.

My S-7300 just loves EPI.
