I should mention that space is at a premium (the room is only 12x10) and that I am modding them with either the updated SEAS or Morel tweeters. I am giving up a mint pair of Klipsch Heresys, so I want a pair of these. The Heresys are just too big for the room.
Follow Ups:
Hi, I have heard A25s sound great with push-pull EL84/6BQ5 amps.
The Heresys are that much larger ? Wow, Heresys are better than the Dynas, aren't they ? Where are you placing the speakers, physically ?
Like, are they off the floor away from walls ?
Have you upgraded the crossover caps in the Heresys ? Why get rid of these classics ? What is it about their sound that turned you off the Heresys ?
Back in the '70s, I used large Advents, which are a little larger than the Dynas. They had a smoother midrange, to me, and played much louder. But, the Dynas sounded better at low levels, certainly. However, had I more money, back then, the Heresys would have been my choice. Good Luck with your hifi search...
I think that you are misunderstanding me. I LOVE my Heresys. I hate to get rid of them, in fact I reworked the crossover with Kimbers and Dayton caps and Solen coils. The only reason that I am getting rid of them is for the cash, and because, since they are floor standing speakers, there is no real room to listen to them properly.I am going to put the a25's up on stands. That way they take up less floor space and are above my bed, where I can hear them when I am laying in bed.
I actually had a pair of modified Dynacos (updated SEAS tweeter and Kimber caps in the crossover, and preferred them to the Heresys in a previous bedroom setup.
i use my a-25's with a fisher 500c - sounds nice - i have a dynaco sca 35 integrated sitting around that i have not tried yet. the fisher put out 37watts per side.
