I picked up a pair of 10" Utah Celesta drivers over the weekend. Both will need repairs to the wizzer cones that are becoming detached from the paper woofer cone.Has anyone got a suggestion for the type of glue that would be best to hold these?
It seems it would need to be pretty fast to stabilize (dry) because it will be difficult to hold the wizzer to it's correct position as the glue dries. I can stand and hold it for a while, but not hours at a time.

With a bow to pmsummer, have you considered Aileen's Tacky Glue?
I've had good luck on misc vintage eqpmnt repairs with silicon adhesives. They now come in smaller tubes with applicator nozzle and are not "runny" like white glues. If you use clear, it could end up being nearly invisible. You might have to flip the driver over every 10 minutes for an hour, as it does flow, albeit slowly. I repaired a torn cone on one of my thiels using only this stuff and nothing else and it has held for months and this set gets played VERY loud.
I'd use the cements that are used for foam surround installation. It dries fairly fast and has some tack, and is actually a contact cement, so it will adhere even is nearly dry to the touch. Parts Express sells it separately in little bottles.
... I have a shelf-full of products that I call "the Department of Adhesive Science".That being said, I don't know the right answer to your question... I would probably try GC Service Cement which, if nothing else, was designed "for speaker repair" probably back before I was born.

Your getting as bad as I am with buying vintage drivers and playing with them..You still have your electrostatics?
mike
Hi Mike,The electrostatics still sing....sometimes rather loudly. I've found, contrary to my prior belief, that the Spectra 11's do very well with busy, loud music, such as The Allman Brothers at the New York State Fairgrounds in 2004. Derek and Warren soar.
I've been rescuing quite a few vintage drivers lately. I recently got a cabinet containing a 12" EV and two EV horns (shit!...just one cabinet)....and another cabinet with a 12" University. Then came the Utahs. I knew what they were from 40' away...that distinctive blue tweeter in the center.
For some reason, speakers seem to follow me home on an almost weekly basis. Last count (give or take a pair)...I'm providing shelter for 60+ pairs....with room to spare. Oh...then there's the Paradigm 5 SE's for $7...it was a sweet garage sailing weekend.
