Here's some audio equipment I've had for some time but now curiosity has me wondering if I need to junk it or keep it. First...a Luxman L-210 interagated amp(no tuner, just amp). I had it hooked up to some Fishers and it pushed them pretty good. I've never heard of Luxman before I came acrossed this amp and haven't seen any other Luxman stuff yet. Is it a good amp or does it need to go? Second...I have some speakers...Fisher STV-873 3way speakers, and Akai SR-LA301 3way speakers. The Fishers seem alright to me and so so the Akai's. The Akai's seem very well built. Anyone know anything about any of these components? Let me know if you do.

Hi,
The L-210 is a sleeper. It was one of the last amps Luxman built before the Alpine take over. It was overlooked by the press when it came out as they focused on the larger L-410, L-430 and the pure class A 550. It has a cult like following in Europe and is a popular unit to mod. On a scope it is flat as a pancake and has simple direct circuits that help keep the sound uncoloured. I have several larger vintage (pre 80) Luxmans but the L-210 is my favourite and is the only one that can rival my Scott 299 for musicality . Spend some money getting it brought back to spec. It is a keeper IMHO.

Luxman is excellent gear! Has been called the Japanese McIntosh.
The L-210 is from 1984-85, 40 wpc with Luxman's Duo-Beta circuit (don't ask me) and sold for $300.
The Akai SR-LA301 are from 1985-87, 12" 3-ways, and had an msrp $325 a pair.
The Fisher are probably mid-80s and cheap.
Luxman is great stuff. You have a good find there! I am not familiar with the speakers you listed. Akai made both very good and cheap equipment. Can you post a picture?
Crazy Dave wondered if I could post a pic of some speakers. I'd love to post pics of everything I have, but, how?
Luxman stuff is/was good. Well built and relatively expensive when it was new compared to other Japanese brands. Having said that, I know nothing about your specific amp.
I don't know anything about your specific speakers either, but generally the Fisher speakers from the sanyo era were not as good (read cheap junk) compared to the original US Fisher speakers from the 50's and 60's. One way to tell the difference is whether or not the cabinets are made from wood with real wood veneer or from particle board with vinyl veneer.
