I have a 500C and I think there is something wrong with the wiring of the volume knob. When I got it I was having problems with changing volume levels and I found a wire that had broken. When I resoldered it there are now some balance/tone differences between the channels. Could someone post/email a picture of the wiring of the volume knob, or describe it in detail? I have a schematic and it's a little hard to see how it should be wired from that. Many thanks in advance.
Follow Ups:
Make sure the wires do not touch the bottom chassis cover when installed - it's a tight fit there.
I don't have up-close and personal photos of a 500C VC, but I do just happen to have a couple of photos of the 400's VC, which I'll post and hope they're helpful. I was showing someone how to clean the pots, so you'll see in each photo the red plastic nozzle from a can of DeOxit poked into each pot :-)I don't recall fo' sho' but I imagine there's a "loudness" tap on the volume control pots. Check the loudness switch for "proper operation" (i.e., clean it!, if you haven't)
It's also quite possible that one section of your stereo volume pot is bad, too.

If a day or two goes by, and you are still really stuck, let me know & I can pull off the cover of my 500C and snap a photo or two of its VC.
Many thanks, I think that's what I'll need, it looks very similar if not the same. I'm going to look at it tonight, so I'll let you know if I get it straightened out. I have cleaned all the pots, and it didn't have this problem before I reconnected a couple of wires at the VC. Thanks again.
