After reading the post below on the Large Advent it is beginng to appear that a mint pair in all original condition is going to bring a higher premium price.
I am going to try to hang onto mine. I have a pair of Original Large and a pair of New Large that are in pretty much mint condition. The only thing I notice is that there is a little shading on the grills that emphasize the speaker openings. I think that is a normal occurance. I have the pairs stacked for convenience more than the sound. I have another system with a pair of Original Large utilities that get more work than these. They are handsome together and the sound....Great! They are hooked to a Marantz 2270. Trying to attach a hosted picture..................Best! Franksta

Thanks for the compliments! This system includes an Advent 201 cassette deck which I think is the most durable and one of the better sounding decks ever made and it was one of the first. The TT is a Pioneer PL-7 that has a very low mass arm and high trackability my choice because the speakers are so close but I can still get the volume up without feedback. The cart is an AT of which I forgot the model #. It is a middle to higher end (green stylus)unit . I can't see the model # because of the headshell.I have 4-5 systems set up around the house and they are always changing so I don't consider any of them the one system. I chose not to flip the top Advent just so I wouldn't have to worry about a scratch on the top of those nice Original walnut cabs. There are a couple of layers of paper towels between the top and bottom pair to prevent that on the other pair. They sound good enough the way they are.
When I get serious about 2 channel listening I go to "Big Bertha" the other stacked Advent system which is in another bedroom believe it or not. Those are flipped and are driven by TWO HK-402 Integrated amps. Each amp drives it's own pair of Advents. Thats a twin powered amp @ 8 ohms driving each pair. It makes for quite an amazing sound! I keep mentioning it because I think it's my not so secret weapon and I keep waiting for someone else to try it. It could be done with any two of the twin powered amps or receivers from HK that have preamp out main in jacks on the back. If anyone ever tries this they are in for a big treat! Best! Franksta
Franksta, there is a definite "Wow" factor with your Double Advent set-up and it puts other tower speakers to shame. I am impressed with the furniture-grade quality of the Advents which adds to the listening pleasure and living space. I did not find your name in the Inmate Systems list? What is the make of your TT and cartridge? Why don't you post your Inmate System? Looks like an Advent 301 cassette deck.
A Nice Pair. Very nice. I would be drolling but I want two orginal Large pairs.
...I recently bought a set of PhaseTec Veloctiy V-10s, but I keep going back to the "stack"; it just has more of, well, everything.

Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.
I have the same 2 Advent models. Same driver patterns are evident in the grilles. Never quite sure if that was dirt deposited by air motion, or fiber loss due to air movement exposing the black cloth behind it. Maybe it's an irreversible process resulting partly from each effect. The grille frame prevents air movement everywhere else.I had my Advents stacked like yours are, but now have EPI 120B's underneath the older Advents. Sounds better to me.

Yes I agree, The stack with 2 pairs of Originals sounds better than this Original/New stack. Of course that is what the Utility cabinet stack is Originals in a vinyl covered cabinet. They don't compare in looks to this pair but they sound considerable better stacked in my opinion. It also has a lot to do with HOW I have that pair hooked up however. [If anyone wants to know I will explain although I have mentioned it before.] I even had to replace the grille cloth on the 4 utilities. The cloth is a little different on each pair so I must correct that some day.I have given consideration to "straping" that utility pair together in one cabinet using an outer shell made of plywood or MDF. I have hesitated however because of the idea of how heavy and cumbersome they would be. Maybe a set of casters on the bottom? I know it's overkill but the idea still intrigues me! Has anyone ever done that? Best! Franksta
Man I hate the little red box! I have a photobucket acct. I thought I could left click "IMG Code" beside the Image code box on the picture I want which copies it and then paste it in the Optional Image URL box below. That would mean that the picture would be there when you opened this post and I wouldn't have to add an Optional Link URL. Is that not possible? Anyway here are the Advents. Getting harder to find in this condition! Best! Franksta
I can do that for youRight click the image
go to properties
copy the url that is the last thing listed on the properties
cancel the properties box by hitting the cancel tab
paste into Vintage optional image url
in order to get the tweeters closer to eachother?
