Hello. I have some old EPI 100 wood veneer speakers that are in pretty good shape that I found at Goodwill for $20 for the pair. The woofer edges are disintegrated for the most part. All else looks cosmetically fine. I have seen so many versions of woofer re-foam/re-edge repair kits available on the net. Is there any consensus in the forum on which of these re-foam kit packages work best, and is also reasonably easy to install for the layman? Thanks for any guidance...just want it done right the first time is all. -Ken

I used a kit from George and Alison Wiltsie (geoaliwil@yahoo.com) with very good results. Materials and packaging are first rate and the instructions are very clear and sensible. Service was excellent.
Second that. Refoamed Genesis 20's with a kit from them. Essentially an EPI 8" woofer. Fast service and easy to deal with
Either kit worked fine for the EPI/Genesis woofers that I have re-foamed.Good Luck, Those EPI 100s are one of my favorite speakers. Replace the cap on the tweeter while you are in there.

EPI woofer is an easy re-foam project. Use a D-Cell battery to center the voice coil, and ther's no need to mess with shims and the dust-cap.I was listening to a pair of mine with an old Scott tube amp today, and my love for them was renewed.
And yes, change that 10uF capacitaor with a Solens or a Dayton. Not an option.

I use a AA battery myself. You are correct that the EPI woofer is an excellent starting point. There are none easier.
