I came across a Knight KN 775 integrated amp that has four EL34 power tubes. Everything is there but for some reason will not power up. Is is worth it to get this baby running? Thing weighs a ton!
Follow Ups:
Nice find, well worth the effort to restore. Top of the line Knight integrated in 1961, at $169.50 and 36 lb shipping weight. Uses 2 pair of el-34s and 6 (!) 12AX7s. Be sure to replace the selenium diodes in the filament supply, and the 'new' silicon diodes in the HV supply (high speed, soft recovery types).Good luck and enjoy,
The numbers on Knight amps are a complete mystery to most. Are you sure the output tubes are EL 34's and not EL 37's? Are there two rectangular, potted output transformers located mid chassis with one somewhat larger rectangular, potted power transformer at one end of the chassis? Is the chassis chrome? If these questions mean anything to you, then you might like this schematic for a KB-85.
Yes! and Yes!
