Agreed - check the positioning of the speakers in the listening area, how clean and solid the speaker wire connections are, the tightness of the screws securing the drivers, and how well you've secured the speakers to their stands or the floor.
Greetings from da overcast Sactown Valley, pappy 1st. Utilize Ratio Shaq Monster Cables, & have no sibilance problems. Enjoy that bass slam, particularly their 90s-era models. Here in da computer room, added a Sony CDP-CE535 player recently(replacing a Sony DVP-NS325 from a KPFA yard sale). Found a user's manual via Google search. Integrates quite well with Concept 4.5D receiver thru ESS Model 10s(finally loaded 'em with Jensen P10Rs, & now use Technics' EAS-25PL92S for living room rear channel duty). Sound quality is source dependant. Am still amazed how compressed those studio tracks on Peter Frampton's "Somethin's Happening" album sound; then sonics seem to clear up on final track "Sail Away", which was recorded @ Headley Grange(as was the subsequent "Frampton" album). Used Sony cd players should be plentiful & fairly inexpensive. Good huntin' pappy 1st!!!
i just picked up some new electro-harmonix 6922 tubes for my cd player. will put them in place later this week and listen to what happens if anything. sony cd players sound interesting. any newer sony cd players you might recommend?
Will let ya know in a few years, pappy 1st, when they start hittin' them used shelves. Meanwhile, lookin' forward to progress reports of your re-tube experimentation. 73s from Sactown!!!
