Altec Valencias are the furniture grade, Altec Voice of the Theater A7 system. They have special qualities, well worth any hassles, to own and use, even in small rooms.
Their crossovers are uniquely, low slope, low phase shift, compared to other VOT xovers.
Their tweeter horn mouth is very closely coupled to the woofer surround.
The 16 Ohm versions have the bass reflex port on each side of the tweeter horn.
These attributes add up to an amazingly realistic imaging ability, very 3D, with the right amps. Raising them off the floor, with only the slightest amount of toe-in, also allows better imaging.
Their bass is awesome, mids and highs very real. The 16 Ohm versions are preferrable. The Flamenco is the same design, with different decor and grilles. These are state of the art, forever !

Certainly one of the better all round speakers I've heard. One of my
closest friends had them in a medium size room with Mac 2505 and C26

Just a great playback unit...
Didn't get a call back, so they must have gone to someone else. Still bugs me that I didn't get these. They were the 16-ohm models. Just too damn big for my circumstances right now. Sigh...
HOK, they are not the best from Altec so you are OK there. For me, they are more for collecting than listening, unless they are your only Altec set. I'd rather have the later series, the 846B, as oppose to the 846A that you almost bought. Better bass overall.
