I have a Kenwood KX-2060 3 head deck that is giving me trouble. After a short time of play, the pitch begins to vary. The belts are new and I cleaned and applied non-slip to the pinch roller which looked to be in good condition. Could this be the motor? Should I replace it or is there something else I should be looking at?
thanks
Jeff
Follow Ups:
I messed around with the speed control quite a bit trying to speed it up (which I did) but I think I might have messed up the motor. any idea where I might get one? Studio Sound sells several universal motors in different voltages and directions. Does anyone have any experience with these?
thanks again
Jeff
Is the motor mabe by MABUSHI or Panasonic? number on the motor.
No name but has a pyramid looking logo. Part # is MMI 6A2KFA
DC-12V runs counter clockwise
The pyramid logo is MATSUSHITA (PANASONIC (USA), or NATIONAL (for oversea brand). I cannot find anything on web by that mdoel you indicate.
Two suggestions: try cleaning the pot that is the speed control with Rid-Ox, or replace it with a newer one.If the pot adjusts some kind of DC servo, check resistor values in that circuit, or the semiconductors in that circuit for overheating. Just zap a couple of the parts with freeze spray. If you can't find freeze spray easily, just turn a compressed air keyboard duster upside down and give it a quick burst. If you hit a part and the pitch changes, you have found your culprit.
