I noticed that a "like new" pl 550 unit went for (gulp) $710.00 recently on epay, now there are several more listed as "rare, super great, etc.". Now, I have this 70's era TT and like it just fine, but this feels like chumming the waters...
Follow Ups:
I have 2 PL-41 tables and 1 PL-50 table which I think are far more interesting. I probably would have passed a PL-550 by. It is probably worth $710 because it's the last one in the universe without a crack in the dustcover!
the guy has crappy feedback, so maybe people were just screwing with him?that's NOT a $700 deck. i'm pretty conifidant my technics SL-1600MK2 would eat it for breakfast. don't really know though.
...the manual and an extra cartridge; all in almost new condition. I gave it to my son. Maybe I should have kept it. It seemed like a decent table but not super special. Prices for audio gear have been whacky lately. Tubes I used to buy NOS/NIB a couple of years ago at $4/pair are bringing $30 for a pair of 'test good' (barely). Maybe it's time to sell into the market a bit.
