Hello all,About once a year or so my regular haunting of the thrift stores and charity shops is rewarded by the finding of some outrageous vintage audio bargain. Today was my day. I picked up two vintage Karlson Enclosures ($24.99 the pair), one of which contains an Altec 604E and the other an Altec 604D. Problem: the 604D needs to be reconed. I need to find a speaker repair shop that can and will do the job with the proper expertise and general worshipfulness. I live in Phoenix. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks to those who responded, sounds like GPA is the way to go.There is a school of thought at my house that holds that I already have too many large, honkin', heavy pieces of audio gear. A bizarre, even twisted, POV, I know, but there it is. Out of respect for this school of thought, however, I have listed the speakers for sale on e-bay. If they don't sell, I will then go ahead and have GPA do the work, and keep them 'till I die, if not longer (unless I trade them for something else).
anyone used gpa audio for vintage tannoys?
If this were mine I'd send it to Great Plains Audio. Apparently they have Altec tooling and processes avail and can do an authentic restoration of speakers like this. I've used them and their work is top notch. They're located in OK. Your favorite search engine will find them quickly.
They are *THE* place to send that 604 to be repaired.

You might as well get them both checked or repaired for a clean bill of health. Congrats on a great find. Don't be afraid to spend a little money on them. GPA is very reasonable and efficient.
