Looking for user and service manual for Harmon Kardon 730. Any help would be apreciated. Also would apreciate anyone's informed opinion of the HK730.
Follow Ups:
I own one. It has a very good phono section for a mid- powered 70's receiver. I like it's unique style too.
I've got one in my living room for the past couple of months. Nice sound. The tuner is a little finicky -- it won't switch to stereo unless the signal is strong enough for full quieting, so you get mono once in a while on a signal that is just a notch or two below blockbuster.I use the buttons on the front to switch back and forth between speakers and between tape and source quite a bit, and these are showing some signs of age. I don't really want to resort to de-oxit, because I don't know if that does more harm than good on something this old.
I have the same experience with the tuner, tough to get it to lock in on stereo. I could not get to the body of those pushbuttons for cleaning. All I could do was flood from the front with limited if any positive results.I have some 20 upper-middle-of-the-road receivers from different makes of that time and the HK730 is at or very near the top of the list. I currently have it attached to a pair of JBL 4313B, a match made in heaven.
Check at Harmankardon.com under support - legacy products. If it's not there, I have a scan they sent me...
very good. Sounds better than many comparable units in it's day, in my opinion. Many folks use the old HK receivers with high efficiency speakers, horns, etc.
YOu nailed it perfectly,.. im using a A402 integrated to power my mamoth Altec A5-X
my A402 is i believe most of the 730, minus the tuner section. They have a very tube like-sound and very appealing with high efficiency speakers.
