for a week or two: anyone have 'em?
What do you like, dislike?

I can't speak for the EIIIs, but I have a pair of the EIVs and I am very happy with them. I've bought them new back in 1996/1997 at a place called Cookin' which is now long gone. I upgraded my JIVs to EIVs.They are a good speaker and are fairly efficient (91dBm/Watt, I believe). I've used them with many amplifiers over the years, including Bottlehead Paramours, various Adcom gear, various NAD gear, an old-school Nikko receiver, and most recently McIntosh. They sound good (I'm not one to spew ridiculous audiophile terms about how something sounds) no matter what I use, and also look very good. The cabinets are very nice and well built, but these suckers are big and heavy.
I've never seriously wanted/needed another speaker - these have worked great for the past 10 years.
minds think alike!
Greetings- There is really nothing to dislike about the Snell EIII speakers. I bought mine new at Tweeter Etc. in 1992 I beleive, after spending about 4-6 hours auditioning just about everything else in the store. They are extremely neutral sounding, they don't exaggerate anything but don't sound "sterile" either. The amazing thing is that they do all that using some fairly inexpensive Vifa drivers, however the crossover networks are matched to very close tolerances, again , using fairly inexpensive components.Unless they have already been done, you will probaly have to replace the foam surrounds by now, I did mine a few years ago. Peter Qvortrup of AudioNote UK has called them his favorite speakers and most of the new AudioNote speakers are based on the Snell E III (if I remember correctly). You will thoroughly enjoy them.
