I got to thinking the other day when a gear for the clock in my vintage ZENITH Clock radio went bad,why not use some type of clock with an outlet in the back to plug my vintage stereo in that would turn the vintage Stereo on at a preset time say like 6:00 AM in the morning! Does anyone know if there is something like that available or was at 1 time? I would like it to have a clock that could easly be seen in the room at night or during the day! This way I could wake up to go to work using my vintage stereo system! Any suggestions or ideals out there? Has anyone tried something like this before?Does this sound silly to you all? Brian

Been through this myself...I raided an old clock radio for a flip style mechanism. This is very easy to set and wakes me up with great precision. The amp is home brew with some leftover Fisher iron...circuit comes right from a Fisher x100-B feeding a single AR 2ax. I use this with a KLH Model 18 tuner. The sound is stunning....I need tube mellowness forst thing in the morning. It's my favorite system of all time.
oops- screwed up the link...
Commonly available at Hardware or Mart stores, but doesn't really sub for a room clock. I used one with Hi-Fi for wake-up.
these used to be a somewhat popular product.

One at home, one at the weekend place. They are Sansui Audio Timer AT-20 with big digital readouts. Perfect for night use if only for the clock. They are about the same size as a slim line tuner. In my home bedroom system I also have a first gen. Yamaha CD-X1 CD player with an "auto-start" switch. When the power is turned on the CD will start playing. Perfect for going to sleep with say a rainfall CD, have it shut off, and then on in the morning and waking up to it again. The timer has three power outlets each I think.I bought both in pawnshops in the late 80's early 90's. About $20 each as I recall. Great units to have.
