I love the sound of this pre-amp, very uncolored, fast and extended. (so it appears do some others here, Mr. Eagle..) But the phono section has been intermittent, so aggravating... Anyone experienced with how to get contact cleaner to the pots? I've got it apart, but everthing appears to be sealed up, no access.
Any help appreciated.Cheers,

The Volume & Tone controls have absolutely NO affect on the Phono circut per se, so cleaning those control potentiometers will not solve your problem. Since you did not complain of scratchy sound when rotating those controls, they do not require cleaning anyway. Instead direct your attention to just the Phono circut & the input Selector switch. Procure a schematic so you know where to screw around with it.
Yes, it IS the selector switch that I suspect is the culprit... though initially the volume control, and possibly the separation control seemed sketchy as well.. After posting, I figured, what the hey..., and attempted as best possible to get some de-oxit to the selector housing, as well as the phono (mm/mc) selector and worked them furiously for awhile. Seems like maybe i got a hit, we'll see if it holds up.Thanks,
Pot is slang short for potentiometer = a variable resistance control. A pot is not a switch.
