My bro-in-law has a pair of Walnut Advents he wants to eBay or whatever.Considering age, they're in good shape - minor grill tear, forgot what the cabinet looks like, but I believe very good overall. He told me 100% operational.
He wants to know what a reasonable asking price would be...
Thanks!

Here is a great link about Advent products and it lists the Advent/1 and among others. Check it out.
Thanks for the link. The subject of how the foam surround is supposed to be installed on the low frequency driver of the early Advent loudspeakers comes up again and again. The Advent brochure on this link provides a nice photo of each of the woofers of the Advent and Smaller Advent speaker.Woofer cone surround orientation:

You may be able to get more for them by selling locally. Ebay bidders will often not be willing to pay as much because shipping costs can be quite high. I believe most of the Advent/1 were wood grain vinyl covered (the Utility Cabinets) so if you have some that are real walnut veneer they might sell for a bit more. Nice speakers.
$65, freshly refoamed.I buy them every time I see them at a thrift, usually for about $20, needing foam.
Three pairs last year. I will flip them to my buddy's record shop for $75 with the walnut cabs or $50 for the vinyl utility cabs. They always sell in the shop for $100 to $150.

I have a pair in great cosmetic condition, the walnut cabinet variety. Need to refoam the woofers to use them -- worth it? I already have several other nice vintage speaker sets in working conditions. What's the verdict on this particular model?
They are classics. It will cost you $20 for a simply speakers kit to DIY or around $50 in my neck of the woods to have a pair of Advent woofers done professionally.
