Not the MAC gear Al Nico. :-D I wish, possibly next week for that dependingon how well the show goes this Sunday.Scored a Stromberg Carlson ASR-433 tube integrated and a Akai 4000DS MK-II RTR.
Paid $150, not the $25 thrift finds I like but these came from original owner and are clean. Plus a Frank Sinatra tape to listen to was thrown in. hehe
Both work so that's a plus. I have to tinker now, time to clear the workbench. I need a manual for the RTR. any leads? Never used a RTR before so I'm psyched. Hope I don't break it. lolHappy hunting

"Not the MAC gear Al Nico. :-D I wish"I was hoping you got a Big Mac on lunch hour.
Try the link below...My neighbor gave me a console with the ASR-433, matching AM and FM tuners, FM demux, and 3-way speakers made of 1/2 thick cardboard that were nested inside on rubber shock mounts.
The speakers are interesting as they use the Stromberg-Carlson pateneted aperiodic vent (ala Dynaco A-25). Beautiful drivers, dark oxblood color cones, chrome baskets. They sound better than they should in my garage. Someday, I'll wrap real wood cabinets around them.

Nice pictures and equipment. Thanks for sharing.
Nice score. The Strombergs are lesser known than say the Sherwoods but the build is top rate and I like their build quality over say a Fisher. Look for the mathcing tuner and you'll have a show off pair. The 4000 is a real mechanical workhorse.
I have that same SC integrated amplifier and I love it. Well built and has a lot of features. It uses a voltage doubler in the power supply section which is also kind of unique. I had to replace the voltage doubler caps and a socket, but now it sounds great.
Great to hear. I am anxious. Do you have a schematic? It was supposed to be under the bottom plate but is missing. I do have the original owners manual which is cool.Do you mean the two big can off the diodes? One diode is gold and the ceramic resistor coming off of it was cracked and it looks like the owner epoxied it back. Other than that it looks bone stock. Pretty clean too.
After this week ends I'll have time to play with it.
Altec Model 14's are waiting. :-D
I do have the schematic (on the bottom plate of mine). I also found it online somewhere (didn't bookmark the link).Yes, on mine one of the two large caps off the diodes was shot. I replaced both with new parts and also replaced the old top-hat style diodes with new UF4007 parts. Last but not least I replace the coupling caps in the output stage with 716P orange drops. At some point I'm going to go through it and replace all of the remaining coupling caps.
This thing is really easy to work on, which is nice. It is also very well built and sounds great.
One thing I haven't figured out is what the second position on the bass knob is for. The bass knob (on both channels) pulls out to second position. I has not audible effect, so I'm not sure what it is/does. Anyone know?
