I traded some equipment for a pair of replica walnut veneer cabinets. He wanted my Dyna ST70, and asked me if he could build me something in exchange. He does custom cabinets that are gorgeous, so I agreed. Cost me $60 for materials and I ended up with fancy flame grain veneer matched on all four sides on both cabinets. The vinyl strip around the grill was duplicated with strips of curly maple. I transplated the components from a pair of very beat up utility cabs. I also have a pair of original walnut Advents, but the custom jobs make them look shabby.
with a modern design enclosure (of the appropriate volume) to flush mount the drivers using beveled edges to eliminate the diffraction issues.
Now I just need to fill my basement with disposable vintage gear for that "just in case" rainy day trade. I'm sure the wife will approve!
