The seller makes a big deal about the pedigre of these speakers, but never really identifies the model. There is no model information on the back of the speaker either. The drivers are KEF, but the B200, an 8-inch driver, was never used in LS3/5A models. All of them used a 5-inch driver, usually a KEF B110, often modified with additional damping dope on the cone. These are not LS3/5A speakers and may not even be KEF speakers. This driver combination (B200/T27) was widely used in the 70s. Speakers with these drivers often employed some pretty heavy-handed frequency contouring in the crossover and were a difficult amplifier load.If you really want a pair of small, neutral minimonitors, wait for a pair identified as LS3/5As or similar speakers like the JR-149 or Fried B/2. That way you will have some idea of what you are getting, and the speakers will have significant resale value.
Follow Ups:
The JR-149 is my favorite version of the LS3/5A. They also had a nice matching subwoofer. This system had great looks and sound!
more likely a kit or home brew speaker. the b200, t27, and b110s are no longer made btw.

Thanks Bob,I did some more research and you are certainly correct. No KEF B200 driver was ever used in any of the LS3/5a variants such as Rogers,Harbeth,Goodmans etc.
I am more curious than anything, with no identifying tags and no response from the seller, I will certainly be staying away from them.
I once owned some IMF Super Compact speakers that used the KEF B200 driver, but can't remember the tweeter used. Great little speakers that I should have hung onto. :(
I believe the IMF tweeter was a Peerles, used in lots of speakers in the 70s. I owned a pair of very early Super Compacts pre KEF B200 that used a paper Peerless woofer glopped with some goo that contained sand I believe.
I replied to this on the speaker asylum, but here it is again:Actually, they ARE KEF speakers, but not LS3/5a at all. Yes, the tweeter is a T27, but it's the very early type, the woofer is a B200. They may even be a pair of KEF kit speakers, they did sell speaker kits at one time.
They look a lot like the KEF Cantor, actually.
