I'm still not completely happy, but close. For me it was "Portebello Belle" by Dire Straits on Communique' and anything on Joe Jackson's album Night and Day.
Would not bet my life on it but the earliest I remember was going to Boston and hearing Phil Silvers live and then going home and haing my Uncle give me a Phil Silvers mono record he had released not long before. I played it on my Motorola system and went yuck. FOr some thereafter I did some repairs to the amp, change the cartridge to a GE varactor (or whatever it was called) and rebuilt the power supply for the field coil and did another listen and wow. it was like being at the live concert to hear the recorded trumpet.I used it for some time thereafter to listen to systems including my 1st stereo that was the Quad IIs with E-V Aristocrats.
Cat Stevens and James Taylor.
I think it was '73' my second year in college. Heard "Dark Side of the Moon" on a pair of JBL L100s. Things haven't been the same since!
..Onkyo TX-440 Receiver, AR Turntable.
