Well, best I can recollect, I got more detail and better separation and imaging. It was immediately and continues to be consistently apparent with my FM source. It was less so with my CDP, but still better right off the bat.As with every outlet I've worked with so far, bass comes in better as they break in, but I must say that the Furu bass was lacking nothing right out of the box! HF was the most immediately noticeable improvement.
This was after replacing the main outlet at my wall. Old outlet was a well-broken-in P&S 5262 that was tweaked. All of my other outlets are still P&S tweaked; haven't had the bucks nor time to replace them all with Furus. After my first Furu I was ready to replace them all right away were there the funds; I'm only awaiting more info on the new Oyaides and some cash to go ahead further.
My collection of plugs runs from P&S to Marinco/Wattgate, most not cryoed, BTW. So I'm not even getting the synergy that I might had I replaced plugs with Furus.
Please note that I run a number of AC filters and RFI controls, all DIYed. I also DIY my PCs of various designs and materials. That does undoubtedly permit my midfi system to show off any changes in AC that the outlet brings, so YMMV.
Loads of bass right out of the box, i can't say it any other way.i have 4 Oyaide swo-xxx & they certainly did not have box right away, it came forth a month later.
the Furu ci-15 Cu rocked steady from day 1, then smooooothed out over the next 2 months.
From your perspective how would you describe the differences between the Furu Cu and the Oyaide SWXXX? I'm eager to hear...
Hey Bart,Its hard for me to directly compare the 2, especially since my AC delivery system is based around a BPT PPC with the SWO-XXX outlets in it.
Here's my take on the AC system as a whole: the wall outlet NEEDS to match the male plugs, plain & simple. If you follow this rule of thumb, you might not experience any loss of 'what if?' by going with the Furu products vs. the Oyaide. or, any other mfgr for that matter. there is synergy.
Also, looks like Furu has stepped up their production & came out with new outlets..no doubt due to pressure from happy Oyaide customers. So, in all reality, as long as you look at this stuff as a system within a system, you should be fine going with someone other than Oyaide.
For a bare bones A-B comparison between the SWO-XXX & the Furu CI-15 Cu, i'd safely say one is more refined than the other. In this respect, i can justify paying more for it. If i didn't want 'the ultimate' in sound & performance, the CI-15 cu outlet would work fantastic...it is a good/great sounding outlet. Also, the Oyaide has the edge in the 'airy, 3-D, scary realness' category..the ci-15cu might be a bit tamer or lamer in that regard. BUT, we are comparing a Maybach limo to a MB S550...both cars are over $100K when new. The differences between them might not be important to most folks. BUT, to the people who can afford to drive any car they want, the diffs are important.
If this all boils down to $, stick with the new offerings from Furutech and spend extra on the Fi-25 plugs... No issue to build an AC delivery system one piece at a time too. I did & it makes me appreciate the effort & time spent even more.
If you plan to assemble your own power cords & possibly get into Chris Venhaus' cabling...stick with Furu. They are much easier to work with in this regard. Some parts of the Oyaide plugs are idential to the $10 cheapie plugs i bought from Chris Venbhaus years ago...the 5266i i think? anyhoo, for $90 each they could've at least copied Furutech's strain relief apparatus. If i tried to massage the Flavor 4 cabling into the Oyaide it'd be hell whereas it would be a cinch with the Fi-11 plugs...
You should sweet talk Lee from cryo-parts or CV or another ditributor & see if he can send you one of each. Even though outlets do take a month to fully come out, you should be able to tell what each do (about 80% of that) with just a few days of burn-in...

Thanks, Matt. That's informative.I've been building the AC system one piece at a time, and that's mostly because of $$ and the issue of different tastes and oddly conflicting reviews.
Once I invest in what's expensive for me (that's the Furu level, not the Oyaide!), then I don't want to be swapping it out later nor regretting that I didn't wait 3X as long to pay 2X the price for 1.5X the sonic impact... YOu get the idea.
Spending $90 on a plug does make me think i have a few screws loose!!!Looks like good things are happening with both these firms. You can't go wrong with Furutech. In the next few weeks I plan to buy new cabling from Chris Venhaus to finalize the power cables for my amp & phono preamp...getting rid of the DH labs Power Plus AC bulk cable finally. I do not look forward to jamming the assembly into an Oyaide P-079 plug & may have to permanently mod the P-079 to accept everything w/o abrasion.
But, it will sound really good afterwards!
Lucky for us that this all may boil to preference on a level. And, if you save a little bit on AC tweaks, you might spend a bit more on room treatments or CD's or food to put in the fridge, etc.
ahhhh, life's little compromises....

Suggests that I'd be better off sticking with Furutech. At best I'd be able to swap in one Oyaide and the rest of ths system would still be the same. I can get in 2 Furus, or one Furu outlet and one plug, or 2-3 Furu plugs to match the existing Furu outlet for that price. Those things do matter where cost IS an item and system synergy is one too!In other matters, I just found out that the brand new Furus have stainless steel backstraps. This is a sonic no-no from what my best informant tells me. A lot of the sound value of these outlets comes from the specific base metal and coatings, then the grip, then the tonality/vibration aspect of the physical construction as a whole. So I'm very convinced that the phosphor bronze that old Furus and all teh Oyaides used is really great and really important. The new Furu is a miss with that steel backstrap.
I may just try to scarf up what I can of older Furu copper outlets while I can...
Well to me everything seemed much more relaxed, and i mean this in the best possible way. Less strain all around, bass went deeper, which is always good (to me) when using bookself speakers... I will be step by step changing all the connections over to FURU in the near and distant future...v.i. (outta Croatia!)
Zagreb!
Stop by any time!
Good night life! Very small historical district, though. Couple of small but decent museums. One VERY good Italian restaurant, as I recall.Liked Rovinj, Dubrovnic and Split and Plitvice. Korcula small but satisfying.
Great blue water; virtually no sandy beaches in the entire coastline! Real surprise that all those "white beaches" are really white rock.
If your ever around ZG again, beer is on me.
