In Reply to: I installed a Oyaide outlet into my system (cryo SWO-XXX) this weekend (moved from Cable Asylum) posted by Plinko on March 18, 2007 at 11:00:57:
Even my well burned-in SWO-XXX sounded much leaner in bass compared to ANY outlet I've ever tried, including cheap 80 cent Levitons.
Follow Ups:
bass, not less. Every outlet I have ever tried differs; personally I like the cryo XXX the best of what I have tried (6 high end models).
i'd contact the person who you bought it from, could be defective...i have 4 of these and a few other decent outlets...none of the good ones should reduce bass by ANY measure. that's actually what I spent the $ for!!
I have two separate well burned in units and both reduce bass. Or maybe its the glass half empty / half full, and the SWO-XXX actually increases upper midriange to lower treble.
Initially i thought they were deficient as well, but as they burned-in the bass came through with ridiculous force & tone.It is different bass to my ears, tight & musical & defined. I listen to a LOT of hip hop, so bass production is important.
Did you connect your gear to the SWO-XXX with the P-079 male Oyaide plug?? if not, try that before discounting the wall outlet.
this Oyaide stuff works as a system really well...just sucks that its so expensive. I have 3 power cords with P-079 male plugs but just can't fork out the $ to get the matching female plugs. So, i use Furu FI-11 AG iec ends which cost 50% less.
i'm a believer that the right male plug should be used to fully evaluate a wall outlet.
