Hi,A stupid question, probably
. I am building an Aleph P preamp, and have dual PSUs (one per channel) each requiring ~60Vac (or 56Vac would be fine). Can I power both of these boards from the same secondary (or series dual secondary) in parallel, or do I need a separate secondary for each PSU? I would prefer to only use one transformer, at least initially.
Thanks,
Follow Ups:
If the single transformer has sufficient current capacity, 1st apply the rectification & initial filtering as if a single shared power supply, THEN split off & parallel final filtering for each separate channel. IOW do not duplicate the rectifier & initial filter.
Why is this if both supplies are identical? If the transformer is sufficiently sized (actually overkill at 120VA), haning two PSUs in parallel off a single secondary should work just fine I would think. At any rate, I'll probably hunt down a 2x56-60Vac transformer and give each their own secondary. ApexJr has some 2x28.4Vac Avel Lindbergs for $22 that I was going to use and wire the secondaries in series.
... is one you don't ask.
The search for knowledge is not a sign of stupidity.
