In Reply to: is 10A 250V comparable to 15A 125V? posted by kgturner on February 24, 2007 at 15:19:53:
10*250=2500 & 20*125=2500

The amperage rating is the maximum at any voltage. It is the current rating of the conducter. The voltage rating is the maximum the insulation can handle.
The insulation doesn't "care" about the current and the conducter doesn't "care" about the voltage.
(overly simplified)
so what you're saying is the 10A 250V marinco iec connector is capable of powering my few components even though the rated outlet voltage is really 120V? just wanna be 100% sure.
The connector is only good for 10 amps, period. It is rated for 250 volts. If it is operated at 250 volts it will handle twice the power (wattage) than if it is operated at 125 volts.
10 amps is the maximum amount of load, current, the connector is rated for. The maximum voltage the connector can be connected to is 250 volt.
