The HV supply in TV sets is driven off the horizontal output circuit .Therefore the frequency that the HV supply is running at is around 15Khz (15,734.26 hz for color TV) equal to the horizontal scanning rate.
Quite a bit lower than 20Mhz.
Also TV's turn off the high voltage section when the set is powered off as this practice tended to shorten the life of the HV components.

Well it is doing something. It doesn't matter if the tv is on or off.
The TV is on a different breaker. I don't think it is the horizontal deflection amplifier
either. I think it is the switching supply, these don't use linear supplies.
The set is a Misubishi I have had it for 9 years in another section of the house.
It sure is doing something and in a very positive manner. It is not corona effect as there has
never been any arcing.
A 32" TV is quite a large object in the soundfield. Most advice is that the TV between the main speakers is a bad acoustic reflector, but maybe where you have yours placed it's having a positive effect. That would certainly account for the TV on/off situation, wouldn't it?Try moving your TV elsewhere in your room as far away from your system as possible and see what happens.
The tv is in the NEXT ROOM. Hello read the post. The effect only happens when the TV is plugged in.
This is what you originally posted: "I recently put a 32" tv in the bedroom next to my audio system ..." Isn't that the same room?
My audio system has 113db tractrix horns with 15 woofers and dual 15" Velodynes DDS subs.
Heck I couldn't even dream of fitting them in my living room not even counting the 4amp chassis , cd player turntable and phono stage. No the bedroom is on the other side of the wall next to my sound room. I just assumed that you knew what my system looked like , sometimes I am as bad as my wife. Sorry I looked at the post and realized that it was clear to me and me only. The tv is probably 2 feet away as the crow flies.
No
When you unplug the unit you can head the discharge if what sounds like a HV flyback discharging. Just like if you unplugged a computer monitor when it is on.
I am no knuckle head, my father is an EE and I have an ME. I have been building tube electronics since the 70's when I was doing 2 meter radio.
I was just looking to see if anyone had any similar observations not to be debunked
by a bunch of naysayers.
