I need to make two more shelves for my Hi-Fi rack. One for the CD and another for the preamp. I use Vibrapods on both. Which is better for sound or vibration control, MDF or plywood. ?

even stiffer, and lighter - so less 'smear', is foam-core board laminated on both sides.I'm a mass guy myself. Timber frame house, suspended timber floor!

Hi.How about both: use yellow or white glue to laminate 3/4" mdf to 3/4" plywood. You get stiffness (from the ply) and mass (from the MDF). Best of both worlds IMHO.
Thanks for the suggestion !
