Hello to all:Does anyone have an effective method of cleaning
those (tiny) IC socket holes for op-amps? I know the
cleaning products, but how to get into the holes to
clean (I don't want to spray cleaner into the holes-
too messy on circuit boards)?Thanks!
Follow Ups:
You can spray chemicals in the top of their container, then use the straw as an eye dropper to get them where you want. Cover with a rag and blow out the solvent and crud.I bought some Caig deoxit concentrate - no propellant, just product. It comes with a fine applicator tip and is worth every penny!
of the raised gap between the chipset with pcb, less direct resonance and better fluidity of the sonics outcome.
Better still can utilize empty wire sleeve or teflon sleeving from our friendly DIY suppliers to fill the gap and often the improvement is shocking; far better than covering the surface with rope caulk!
Fussy me combine the use thin nylon tie (from left over price tag)to secure the side gap between the IC and its pin, and fluidity can even comparable with the finest tube equipment; louder and more vibrant, takes off all the edgy-ness at same time can tame off the room resonance. A must try to all silicon chips including all those in DVD player.
Are there complementary IC sockets made with Teflon available for the most common op-amps and decoder chips?
Just pulling and reseating the IC in the socket will be enough to "clean" any oxidation that has happened to have accumuilated.Cheers,
How about spraying some concact cleaner on an IC then inserting and removing it from the socket a few times.Use an IC you don't care about so you don't have to worry about bending a pin.
I would just replace the socket if it looks dirty or oxidized.
Personally I would replace the socket with nothing and solder the chip directly in.
But if you are experementing with different IC's then I can understand wanting to keep the socket.
