I could not find any on the net (reviews or comments) about the Sangean: HDT-1 Radio Tuner ($199.00 USD). How does the tuner perform?
Follow Ups:
bob levi reviews it in pfo, see link below. it can be really affordable if you go to pricegrabber.com.levi says its a bargain, nearly free and he compares it to a mag/dyna. in that my favorite station-KKJZ in long beach california sends out hd signal, i may be forced to do this.
also, i live in the foothills above the san fernando valley in a small crevice behind vet's park, most stations are noisy on my reglar tuner. kkjz comes in pretty good as the my antenna sees signal hill very well. other stations arent so easy to pick up.

Great tuner. Excellent selectivity, great sensitivity. This tuner blows analog out of the water. Yes this tuner does sound better than analog. Look at the frequency response, better dynamic range, all riding on a digital stream. No multipath. This is the time for FM to step into the digital age. Text information about Station, Artist and song title are long overdue. Add to this extra channel and extra formats delivered on a single frequency. This is a quality piece of equipment. I get stations 60 to 70 miles away, crystal clear with the new digital system. I have never heard FM with this fidelity! Sangean has put a lot of features in this tuner, all for $ 199.99. I love it. Can't wait for a portable. I hope Sangean is first out with one.
Ryan,
You may want to visit the Yahoo FM Tuner group, very recently there was a discussion about this very model. In short the person who compared it to some older analog tuners he had in house had absolutely NOTHING good to say about it. IIRC the phrase was "piece of cr**"
There it is.

None of the ads on our local radio stations say "high definition".
They leave that (false) connection to the imagination of the listener.
