Fortunately I do not need 12AX7s. It seems like there are many fakes to believe you guys. Recently the Siemans CCa controversy suggests that they were not fakes.
Follow Ups:
Norm, the 14 bidders are unfortunate and irrelevant. That seller, discussed here so many times, has a very good feedback record and no shortage of suckers to buy from him. There are millions of people who believe professional wrestling is real too.In a huge number of cases, the bids go sky high because of the pretty boxes. Audiophiles are like that, particularly the onees with money and no sense.
There are indeed many, many fakes of the most popular tubes. For at least 10 years, particularly but not limited to the Far East, there has been somee pretty sophisticated counterfeiting. This particular seller has a great operation going reprinting boxes. There are those, like Micronetics, who know better than you or I what a genuine box and tube print looks like.
It's also worth mentioning that the spread of counterfeit Mullard & Siemens has gone beyond those dealers - given the volume of that dealer's sales on Ebay over the last 3 years, we are now seeing the same tubes reappear from other sellers - presumably now that they have wisened up to the fact they bought fakes, they are putting them up for sale on Ebay to recover their losses. And a bunch of newbies will bid them high, particularly since the boxes are just too cool.
The cycle continues and it gets harder to tell who is selling real ones from the fakes.
Norm,We are taking about 12AX7 and I have not read the CCa forum, to be able to formulate an opinion on the CCa.
However our company has been in business for over 40+ years. Mullard was not branded like that.
Given Robert's commen, I certainly believe you. Hopefully I have been lucky to avoid this on Ebay. In most instances I have had my older tubes with which to compare the new ones I got.
