Opinions/reviews comparing the Marsh P2000T, C-J PV14L, ARC SP16, ARC LS8, ASL/DiverTech "Twin Head"? Any referalls to audio journal reviews? Many thanks.
Follow Ups:
I can comment on the CJ PV-14L vs. some other tube preamps that I have owned. I had the PV-14L in my system for about 6 months. It has a typically sweet (as in very nice) CJ midrange but I found that it rolled off the bass more than I liked. Combined with the CJ Premier 11a, it was way too soft in the bass for my liking. I found the ARC LS16 to produce better bass and it was a bit more neutral than the CJ PV-14L. If bass is important to you, I would NOT suggest the PV-14L.I currently run the BAT VK-30se and so far it seems to produce the best bass of any tube preamp I have tried while retaining that nice 3-dimensional tube sound. I prefer it over the ARC LS16 or the CJ PV-14L.
Thanks AbeThat is a nice review. I enjoyed looking the photographs and reading your comments.

Thank you so much for your informative reviews. Your web site was a pleasure to explore. I gotta like anyone who resembles my wonderful son-in-law! The CJ & ARC SP16 are no longer on my short list, though the Marsh P2000T & the LS8 (recommended by one fairly reliable source; neither has remote) still look interesting. Of course the BAT VK30 & ASL/DT "Twin Head" (sounds like a latrine, needs a new name) look most promising. The Head is a transformer-coupled tube pre, whose architecture has much to recommend. I definitely care about bass, as my VMPS RM40 TRTs are pretty powerful down to the low-mid 20s.
